Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Soldiers Party

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a wide array of personalities, and a exciting storyline including divine entities, evil spirits, and dark forces expanding in power within the city.

Warning: Key plot points for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

The latest chapter finished on a major cliffhanger and introduced the first table of characters who will branch out from the main group to embark on their independent quest, distinct from the other two tables.

The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).

The Reason for Division

Considering 13 cast members, it was obvious from the beginning that keeping everyone at one table would be unworkable.

That’s why, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, weaving together the characters’ stories before dividing into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Planners, and Explorers.

The Nature of the Soldiers Table

According to the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for players who prefer a traditionally charged battle-oriented gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are rare.

Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might seem unsuited, but the events of episode 3 demonstrate why these specific adventurers are best suited for the warrior group.

Why They Must Go

First, the group has a clear idea where to head next after a brutal initial meeting with the antagonists.

An old friend of the deceased character—whose demise initiated the campaign’s events—manipulated the enemy for his own means, invading the hidden lair, assaulting the character, and stealing all the magical artifacts to auction.

Casimir then cleared his debts and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.

Personal Motivations

Moreover, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit the metropolitan area:

  • The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, desires retribution.
  • The adventurer knows Timmony and advises that it is a hostile location.
  • The warrior and The cleric, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their status as important members in House Halovar could enable the group enter places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Additionally, Teor swore a life debt to Wicander for his deliverance and will now go with him wherever.

Pursued by Authorities

Lastly, all of them are hunted by the rulers that control the city for a range of causes, making staying in the city too risky:

  • The rogue and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
  • The warrior and The cleric defied the influential house and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
  • The target is wanted dead by House Halovar.

This means them few options but to head to the northern region in search of the antagonist.

Upcoming Developments

From the latest episode’s post-show segment, we find out that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the other eight players to round up the Seekers and Schemers groups.

Fans can expect discovering which players will be where in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on next week.
